Uranium Backup is intended to protect your data from accidental losses, such as those caused by viruses, power failures, and hardware malfunction, by creating backups of the selected files. Additionally, it lets you encrypt and protect the copies with passwords.
The program has quite a straightforward interface, but it is certainly not appropriate for inexpert users. It works by creating backup sets, which store information about what to replicate, where to store the copies and when to do it. Many of these parameters are completed by default but you also need to enter specific data. Unluckily, some of the captions in the interface were not translated from Italian.
The tool supports various types of sources, including standard files or folders, SQL server, Exchange Mailboxes, Hyper-V virtual machines and FTP downloads, among others. As a destination, you can use local folders, FTP servers, various types of discs, and even some Cloud storage services. In this regard, the program is characterized by its support of tape backups, which no many similar tools can do.
Since you would not want to forget to do necessary backups, it is great that the program allows scheduling them to run at a given frequency or specific time. Moreover, you can create rules as to when to copy or overwrite a file in case there is already an instance in the target location. Similarly, you can make decisions related to file size, modification date, and even contents. more
